The entire album was made by generating 30-second tones in Audacity and then manipulating them, as simply as possible and partly using chance operations, until they became the "fields" of each track.

They're "stochastic" in the sense that clipping and pitch adjustments wasn't done according to any procedure other than choosing what pitches I wanted to use beforehand, and was partly inspired by James Tenney's Stochastic String Quartet (although it sounds nothing like it).

The tracks differ in what type of tone was generated (sine wave, sawtooth, etc.) and in the pitch relationships: every track is based on A3 (220 Hz) but also includes fourths above/below, or fifths, or modal scales, etc. on up to the fifth track, which uses the whole tone scale.
